Loren Kaplan has been working with the poppy seed capsule for many years.  Inspired by its architectural and yet, organic form. The opium poppy, among many other things, has been seen as a symbol of transcendence, a way to push and break down the barriers we build.  It has been used ritualistically and recreationally to exceed the limits of our realities. 

The closed, lidded interpretation of the poppy seed capsule and the open form; the tiny and the large.  Within them all, they hold the silence and the meditation of the making, the time, the detail, the attention to the process; the way the process enables me to stray from thought, from emotion, and to only focus on the sensation of the making.”  Each piece is one of a kind.
